This course provides counselors with a structured, practice-ready framework for
identifying, analyzing, and responding to ethical dilemmas encountered in real-world
clinical settings. Participants will explore how personal values, professional ethics, legal
obligations, and contextual factors intersect in complex decision-making. Emphasis is
placed on ethical reasoning processes, risk management, documentation, and
consultation strategies that support ethical and defensible clinical practice.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this continuing education program, participants will be able to:
- Identify key components of ethical dilemmas commonly encountered incounseling practice.
- Apply a structured ethical decision-making model to analyze clinical scenarios.
- Differentiate between ethical, legal, and clinical considerations in complex cases.
- Evaluate the role of values, bias, and professional judgment in ethical decision-making.
- Develop ethically sound action plans that incorporate consultation,
documentation, and risk management strategies.
This CE is offered in a lecture-style learning format. This format is designed for participants
who prefer an instructor-led presentation and may have limited capacity for interactive
engagement. Verbal participation is not required, and the session will not include
facilitated discussion or breakout activities. Questions may be submitted via the chat
feature; however, the session is not discussion-based.
