This course addresses ethical and legal considerations related to telehealth and the use
of technology in counseling practice. Participants will explore confidentiality, informed consent, digital boundaries, documentation, risk management, and jurisdictional issues associated with technology- assisted services. Emphasis is placed on ethical decision-making and best practices for maintaining professional standards in virtual environments.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this continuing education program, participants will be able to:
- Identify ethical risks associated with telehealth and technology-assisted
counseling. - Apply ethical standards related to confidentiality, informed consent, and data
security in virtual practice. - Evaluate professional boundaries and ethical considerations related to digital
communication and social media. - Describe jurisdictional and legal considerations relevant to telehealth practice.
- Implement best practices to ensure ethical, compliant, and client-centered
telehealth services.
This CE is offered in a lecture-style learning format. This format is designed for participants
who prefer an instructor-led presentation and may have limited capacity for interactive
engagement. Verbal participation is not required, and the session will not include
facilitated discussion or breakout activities. Questions may be submitted via the chat
feature; however, the session is not discussion-based.
